Don’s Guiding Principles

  • Accessibility & Communication

Accessibility and communication are the foundation of trust between our schools and the families they serve. Parents, teachers, and students deserve to know that their voices are heard and their concerns matter. Whether it’s a question about classroom resources, curriculum changes, or after-school programs, your School Committee representative should be available, responsive, and transparent year-round.

If elected, Don Martelli will make sure communication between families, schools, and city leadership is open, honest, and consistent—because strong schools start with strong relationships.

  • Common Sense

Our schools need decisions driven by what’s best for students and families—not politics. Don will bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset to the School Committee, the same approach he’s used successfully in leading his marketing and PR business. Every discussion should begin with a few simple questions: How does this help students? How does it support teachers? Is it the best use of taxpayer dollars?

Don believes in cutting through the noise, avoiding unnecessary spending, and focusing on what truly moves our schools forward—safe classrooms, supported educators, and opportunities for every child to succeed.

  • Common Goals

Progress in education comes from collaboration—parents, teachers, administrators, and city leaders all working together toward shared goals. Don will champion teamwork, transparency, and accountability at every level of the School Committee.

He believes the focus should always be on preparing students for success—academically, socially, and emotionally—while ensuring Revere’s schools remain places of pride for the entire community. With thoughtful planning and a unified vision, Don will help move Revere’s schools forward together.

About Don

Don Martelli brings a diverse background and a deep commitment to public service to his candidacy for the Revere School Committee. A former Boston Globe journalist with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications, Don has built a career around helping organizations tell their stories, solve problems, and connect with the people they serve.

Don and his wife Susan have proudly called Revere home for more than two decades, raising their daughters Kayla and Jordan through the Revere Public Schools from kindergarten to graduation. Kayla is now pursuing a career in pediatric oncology nursing, graduating this spring, and Jordan is a freshman at Merrimack College, studying forensic science in the honors program. Their success is a reflection of Revere’s educators, community spirit, and the strength of local schools. The Martelli family’s four-legged companion, Daisy, a white German Shepherd, is a familiar sight on the streets of Ward 4 or chasing seagulls on Revere Beach during the offseason.

Beyond his professional and family life, Don has consistently given back to the community. He serves on the Revere High School Building Committee, the Board of Trustees for the Revere Public Library, and as Secretary of the Revere Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on two nonprofit boards — one supporting athletic and educational programs for at-risk youth, and another that assists veterans in overcoming challenges as they reintegrate into civilian life.

For more than a decade, Don and his family have also organized an annual community fundraiser for childhood cancer research, which has raised over $75,000 and brought together city leaders, first responders, and neighbors from across Revere.

Through every chapter of his work and service, Don has stayed focused on what matters most: strengthening the community, supporting families, and ensuring Revere’s schools continue to provide opportunity and pride for every student.
