Service. Stewardship. Collaboration.
Don Martelli brings decades of experience as a business leader, former journalist, and communications professional, paired with a long-standing commitment to the City of Revere. He is actively involved in the civic life of the city, serving on local boards and committees, supporting community institutions, and working alongside residents, nonprofits, and city leaders to strengthen Revere’s future.
Don’s civic work focuses on building strong institutions, improving access to information and resources, and helping the city communicate more clearly with the people it serves. Whether supporting small businesses, expanding access to public services, or contributing to long-term planning efforts, his approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in service.
As a husband and father raising a family in Revere, Don understands the importance of stable neighborhoods, trusted institutions, and thoughtful leadership. He believes the city works best when decisions are transparent, inclusive, and focused on long-term impact—not short-term wins.
Don’s Guiding Principles
-
Civic Accessibility & Communication
Clear, consistent communication is the foundation of trust in any community. Residents deserve to understand how decisions are made, how institutions operate, and how they can participate in shaping the city’s future.
Don believes civic leaders and boards should be accessible, responsive, and transparent year-round. Across his roles in the city, he prioritizes open dialogue, practical information-sharing, and clear pathways for residents to engage—because informed communities are stronger communities.
-
Practical, Common-Sense Leadership
Effective civic leadership requires focus, discipline, and a commitment to real outcomes. Decisions should be guided by what works, what serves residents best, and what makes responsible use of public resources.
Don brings a solutions-oriented mindset shaped by years of leadership in communications and business. He believes in asking the right questions, avoiding unnecessary complexity, and keeping the focus on impact—whether the issue involves community services, public spaces, or long-term planning.
-
Shared Responsibility & Collaboration
Strong cities are built through collaboration. Progress happens when residents, city staff, boards, nonprofits, and local businesses work together toward shared goals.
Don supports thoughtful collaboration across sectors and believes accountability and teamwork are essential to building trust and delivering results. By aligning people, institutions, and ideas, he works to ensure Revere continues moving forward in a way that reflects the values and needs of the community.
About Don
Don Martelli brings a diverse professional background and a deep commitment to civic leadership to his work in the City of Revere. A former Boston Globe journalist with more than two decades of experience in marketing and communications, Don has built his career around helping organizations communicate clearly, solve complex problems, and engage the communities they serve.
Don and his wife Susan have proudly called Revere home for more than twenty years, raising their daughters, Kayla and Jordan, in the city and remaining deeply connected to the community they continue to call home. Like many Revere families, the Martellis value strong neighborhoods, trusted public institutions, and a local economy that supports both families and small businesses.
He currently serves as President of the Revere Chamber of Commerce, where he works closely with local business owners, civic leaders, and nonprofit partners to strengthen the city’s economic vitality and foster collaboration across sectors. In this role, he focuses on supporting small businesses, improving communication between stakeholders, and helping position Revere for long-term, inclusive growth.
In addition to his role at the Chamber, Don serves on the Revere High School Building Committee and the Board of Trustees for the Revere Public Library. He also contributes his time and experience to nonprofit boards focused on expanding opportunities for at-risk youth and supporting veterans as they transition back into civilian life.
For more than a decade, Don and his family have organized an annual community fundraiser supporting childhood cancer research—an effort that has raised more than $75,000 while bringing together residents, first responders, nonprofit partners, and city leaders from across Revere.
Across every role and responsibility, Don remains focused on the same core purpose: strengthening civic institutions, supporting families, and helping Revere continue to grow as a connected, inclusive, and resilient city.
